Former Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson didn’t take long to make a big impact with his new team.

On his first-career touch, Henderson took the opening kickoff back 100 yards for a touchdown to give the New England Patriots a 7-0 lead over the Commanders.

Henderson went virtually untouched all the way to the end zone but made a devastating cut at about the 40-yard line to create the separation he needed to get around Washington’s special teams unit.

Here’s a clip of Henderson’s big play:

Ironically, Henderson’s yardage on this play alone eclipses what he did over an entire career at Ohio State on special teams. He fielded just 9 kickoffs in his career with the Buckeyes (and zero punts), returning them for a total of 86 yards.

The Patriots picked Henderson with the 38th pick of the 2025 NFL Draft, so they’re no doubt expecting big things from their second-round selection.

Henderson will presumably make his official NFL debut when the Pats have their regular-season opener on Sept. 7 against the Raiders.
