Trey Palmer’s name was not seen on the Players of the Week awards for Week 7. This was even after he had a 237 yards receiving performance against Purdue.
Palmer also had a 60 yard rushing touchdown as well, which gave him more total yards than Illinois RB Chase Brown, who had 233 total yards.
Understandably, Nebraska fans were outraged and let social media know about it. Palmer’s 781 yards receiving now leads the country.
Many fans were debating if winning the game is required to be up for the honor. There was also plenty of B1G bashing done by Nebraska fans. Nebraska lost a close 43-37 game to Purdue as Palmer broke a program record.
Palmer will have to focus on the next game and forget about getting snubbed. Luckily he’ll have a bye week to cool off before taking on Illinois on Oct. 29.
Here’s how some of the fans reacted to the news:

Interesting. Leading WR in the nation just broke a school record and nothin. But it makes sense, everyone knows Nebraska is the red headed step child of the Big Ten. https://t.co/9QTt6Xstbl

Only Nebraska could have a WR set a new school record and still not get POTW over Purdue lol https://t.co/VTR2EsVStS

Trey Palmer was the first FBS player this century with at least 225-plus receiving yards and 50-plus rushing yards in a game, 7 catches for 237 yards and 2TDs, over 300 All Purpose yards. Make it make sense 🤨 https://t.co/3PZjN79Mkt
