Maryland just picked up a huge win on the recruiting trail, adding a commitment from an elite wide receiver out of North Carolina.

The player is Shaleak Knotts, a 4-star WR out of Monroe, North Carolina for 2022. Listed at 6-foot-1 and 184 lbs., Knotts held a host of Power 5 offers from across the country that included Georgia, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia Tech, among others.

In the end, he committed to the Terps Sunday evening:

According to the industry-generated composite rankings, Knotts is the 16th WR in the nation and the No. 120 overall prospect in the country for 2022. He is also the 3rd player out of North Carolina for the cycle.

Knotts becomes the 13th player to join Maryland’s class of 2022. That class is currently ranked 41st nationally with Knotts as the top-rated prospect in the group. The Terrapins now have two WR commits for the class, along with three ATH’s, some of which are likely destined to play WR at the next level.
