P.J. Fleck’s Minnesota staff is hot on the recruiting trail. The Gophers added to their 2024 recruiting class with an in-state lineman, the second commitment of the day.

Jide Abasiri is the latest Gopher commitment. He took to Twitter to announce his pledge to play for Fleck’s program.

Out of Prior Lake (Minnesota), Abasiri is listed at 6-5, 255 pounds. On the 247Sports composite rankings, Abasiri is rated 3-stars, the No. 4 Minnesota player, No. 67 defensive lineman and No. 648 prospect overall nationally in the 2024 recruiting class.

Abasiri has picked up scholarship offers from 8 schools during his recruitment. He committed to the Gophers over Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Washington and others.

With Abasiri now on board, Minnesota is up to 8 commitments in its 2024 recruiting class. Abasiri is the highest-rated of the 8 pledges with a Composite score of 0.8726.
