Two B1G freshmen named Paul Hornung Players of the Week

A pair of B1G freshmen made a huge splash nationally in Week 1, and now both stars have earned major recognition.
Monday, receivers Jeshaun Jones (Maryland) and Rondale Moore (Purdue) were named co-Freshman of the Week in the B1G. Tuesday, the first-year phenoms earned Player of the Week honors from the Paul Hornung Award.
The Paul Hornung Award is presented to the most versatile player in college football.

Jones accounted for three touchdowns in Maryland’s season-opening win over No. 23 Texas, accounting for a rushing, receiving and passing score in the victory. He became one of only a handful of collegiate players with that accomplishment in a single game.
Moore, also playing in his first collegiate game, totaled 313 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns in Purdue’s 31-27 loss to Northwestern in Week 1. The all-purpose total set a new record for the Boilermakers.
Both freshmen set a pretty high bar in Week 1. Will they be able to keep up the incredible performance throughout the season? We’ll see.
But both Jones and Moore deserve national recognition after those incredible performances.
