When it comes to the rich soil of football recruiting, states like Florida, Texas, Georgia and California tend to be the most fertile. Those areas typically produce the best of the best.

But when it comes to creating a top 10 list of the most elite talent-producing states, a few other states work their way into the conversation. And, according to 247Sports, a pair of B1G states are in the discussion.

Recently, 247Sports generated a story on the ‘most elite talent-producing states for the 2020 season, highlighting the 10 states that have the most elite talent for this recruiting cycle. New Jersey and Michigan cracked the top 10.

New Jersey came in at No. 10 on the list, with Michigan one spot ahead at No. 9. The list was based on a formula that awarded states points based on total number of Composite four- and five-star expected Power Five signees, as well as number of players ranked in 247Sports’ Composite Top 150.

Based on that approach, New Jersey has eight elite players, with three ranked in the top 150 this cycle. Michigan has 10 elite athletes for the 2020 class, and also has three ranked in the top 150.

Most of the states on the list come from the South, with Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Louisiana and Texas all included as well. Also making the cut was California and North Carolina.
