Two B1G teams crack FWAA Preseason Sweet 16 rankings

The college football season is right around the corner and the preseason polls are filing in. The latest is the FWAA’s Super 16, which debuted on Aug. 18.

Ohio State checks in at No. 4, behind only Alabama, Clemson, and Oklahoma. The other B1G team on the list is Wisconsin at No. 13.

In the AP poll, Ohio State and Wisconsin are also ranked 4th and 13th respectively. In the USA Today coaches poll, Ohio State is No. 4 and Wisconsin is No. 15.

Ohio State went 7-1 last season, knocking off Northwestern for the B1G title and Clemson in the College Football Playoff semis, before falling to Alabama in the national championship game. Wisconsin meanwhile posted a 4-3 record in 2020.

Ohio State begins the season on Sept. 2 with a primetime matchup vs. Minnesota (8 p.m. EST/FOX). Wisconsin opens up with a home contest vs. Penn State on Sept. 4 (12 p.m. EST/FOX).
