Two more bowl games have been scratched from this year’s postseason schedule.
On Friday, ESPN announced that two of its sponsored bowl games — the Bahamas Bowl and Hawaii Bowl — have been canceled this year due to the ongoing pandemic. The goal is that this will serve as a one-year hiatus before both postseason contests return next season.
“We are committed to bringing both games back in 2021,” said Pete Derzis, ESPN senior vice president of college sports programming.
That brings the total of canceled bowl games this year up to three. Earlier this year, it was announced that the Redbox Bowl — which features teams from the B1G and Pac-12 — would also be canceled this year due to the pandemic.
Because of travel limitations and capacity restrictions, there’s a good chance that several more bowl games are also canceled.
