Tyler Warren is something else.

Penn State’s Swiss Army knife at tight end is arguably college football’s most versatile player. He was involved in a trick play earlier in the Nittany Lions’ game against Purdue that went for significant yardage and set up a touchdown.

Warren was at it again in the third quarter, with the Nittany Lions up 21-3. This time, with his team stationed at the Boilermakers’ 48, he took a direct snap from the center and ran it himself, avoiding defenders on his way to the end zone.

The Nittany Lions have been in cruise control against the Boilermakers at Ross-Ade Stadium, appearing to be well on their way to a 9-1 mark and a 6-1 Big Ten record. They’ll wrap their season up against Minnesota and Maryland.

While their chances at a B1G Championship Game appearance are slim with Indiana, Oregon, and Ohio State above them in the standings, James Franklin’s team is well positioned for a first-ever College Football Playoff berth. They entered Saturday’s game ranked No. 4 in the Playoff standings, meaning they’d enjoy a bye into the quarterfinals and host a game at Beaver Stadium.

As for Warren, while his college career is nearing its end, there are plenty of NFL scouts dreaming of how they’d use him in their offenses.
