Tyler Warren was already a marquee piece of the Penn State offense entering Week 7. However, he saved his best performance of the year for the matchup against USC.

In the first half of the game against the Trojans, Warren was utilized as a quarterback, a running back, a tight end and a wide receiver. He registered stats in all 4 phases, including completing a pass and registering a 4-yard carry.

Later in the game, Warren would be used as the snapper on a wild trick play from the mind of OC Andy Kotelnicki. It worked beautifully and led to Warren snapping the ball and catching the touchdown pass all on the same play.

If that wasn’t enough, Warren would go on to re-write Penn State’s single-game records against USC. Before Saturday, Penn State’s single-game receiving records were 14 catches (DaeSean Hamilton, 2014) and 242 yards (Jahan Dotson, 2021).

Warren would shatter that mark for single-game receptions by a Penn State player with 17, though he would fall just short of Dotson’s yardage mark. He finish with 224 yards, but he will still go down as the best single-game performance from a TE in Penn State’s illustrious history.
