Back in the 199os, Tom Osborne was a big fan of Scott Frost the quarterback. Twenty years later, the Nebraska legend is a huge supporter of Scott Frost the coach.

Osborne, one of the most iconic coaching figures in college football, recently visited UCF this past week and was the guest speaker at the football team’s Countdown to Kickoff luncheon on Friday. While on campus, Osborne had nothing but positive things about his former quarterback-turned-coach.

“He’s really well-prepared to do what he’s doing,” Osborne told the Orlando Sentinal. “He’s articulate and he’s intelligent and he has good values. He’s got the whole package.”

Frost played at Nebraska in 1996 and 1997, leading the Huskers to an undefeated season and a national championship in the ’97 season. He threw for 2,677 yards and 18 touchdowns in his two years. He also rushed for 1,095 yards and 19 touchdowns during Nebraska’s title campaign.

Now, Frost has a full year under his belt as a head coach. He led UCF to a 6-7 record in his first season, quite an impressive turnaround for a team that was winless the year before.

Frost has been so promising early in his career that Osborne says he’ll be tuning in to watch his former QB as often as possible.

“I watch as many of his games as I can,” Osborne said. “I think last year I watched probably six or seven UCF games. And I’ll do the same this year. I’ll be watching them.”

Osborne was the head coach at Nebraska from 1973-1997, winning three national titles and 12 B1G Eight championships. He ended his career with 255 wins and a career winning percentage of 83.1.
