UCLA opens second half with pick-6 to extend lead over Nebraska

UCLA entered Saturday’s game against Nebraska with a 2-5 mark as DeShaun Foster’s first season in charge hasn’t had the best start.
That said, the Bruins have looked good against the Cornhuskers, taking a 13-7 lead into the locker room at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln in the first meeting between the 2 programs since 2015. And that lead didn’t take much time to grow with the teams back out on the field for the third quarter.
With the Huskers positioned at their own 25 on the first play of scrimmage of the second half, Dylan Raiola fired a pass over the middle of the field — but it found Kain Medrano, who took it down the right sideline and leapt over Raiola on his way to the end zone.
Here’s the video of the play as seen on the Big Ten Network:

It was a big moment for Medrano: not only was it just the second career interception for the 6th-year player, but it was his first pick-6.
Meanwhile, the struggles continue for the Huskers, who are looking to avoid a third straight loss but can become bowl eligible for the first time since 2016 with a win. Matt Rhule’s team was 5-1 at one point but was clobbered by Indiana 56-7 on Oct. 19 before a disappointing 21-17 loss to Ohio State on Oct. 26.
