Just when Clemson fans thought they could breathe easy, they’re holding it again.
Shortly after the Tigers came back from an 18-point first half deficit from unranked Boston College, news broke that quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who missed the game with the Eagles, will be missing next weekend’s game with Notre Dame as required by ACC protocols.
The Tigers are in pretty good hands, though.
Backup quarterback D.J. Uiageleli calmly led Clemson’s comeback Saturday afternoon with an authoritative performance in the second half. The freshman was considered one of the top quarterback recruits in 2020, and gave Tigers fans an example of why.
Uiagalelei finished the game passing for 341 yards, with two touchdowns and had no interceptions. His third quarter, 30-yard touchdown run on fourth down was a turning point in the game. Uiagalelei finished 30-for-41 passing on the day.
Breaking: Trevor Lawrence will not be able to play next week against No. 4 Notre Dame, coach Dabo Swinney said.
