Update provided on status of Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow

When the Cincinnati Bengals take the field in the season opener against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, Sept. 12, expect to see Joe Burrow under center.
That’s the good news ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday afternoon. Burrow, who suffered an injury last season, underwent reconstructive left knee surgery in December. It was unclear whether or not he’d be healthy in time for the start of the 2021 season.
Per Schefter, Burrow is “all systems go” for the Week 1 game against the Vikings.

Burrow was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft after winning the Heisman Trophy, leading LSU to an undefeated season and winning a national championship during the 2019 college football campaign. He then quickly became the starter for the Bengals.
As a rookie in Cincinnati, Burrow played in 10 games and threw for 2,688 yards and 13 touchdowns while completing over 65% of his passes. He only had 5 interceptions on the year.
The Bengals ended the 2020 season with a 4-11-1 record.
