Former head coach Urban Meyer is a good one to ask about preparations for a championship football game, all he did was lead teams to the promised land during his days running the show from the sidelines.
Meyer coached football teams at both Florida and Ohio State to seven conference title game appearances and went three for three in national championship competition. He consistently beat the best teams and coaches in the game and left behind a legacy of winning matched or exceeded by few in the history of the sport.
Former head coach Gerry DiNardo sat down with Meyer and asked him to share some of his wisdom on preparation for an all-or-nothing football game. Meyer was ready to talk.
“I would really reduce practices, I would pull the pads off on a Wednesday. But I would also change things up,” said Meyer, citing an unnamed corporate theory that claims simply altering the environment people work in can increase their production.
The rest of the coaches’ conversation can be watched at the link below. The Big Ten Championship game kicks off Saturday at Noon ET on FOX.
How is preparation for a conference title game different than a regular season game?
