It looks like the much-reported and heavy flirtation between Urban Meyer and the University of Texas has come to an end.

It was reported during the week that Meyer was meeting with representatives of the Longhorns to discuss the potential of Meyer taking over as head coach. All of this happening with Tom Herman still in place as the current head coach at Texas.

Well, that courting of Meyer has reportedly ended with Chip Brown at 247 Sports reporting that Meyer is leaning toward not coaching again due to health concerns.

If Meyer’s answer is indeed a no, there is a good chance Herman remains as head coach of the Longhorns:

“There was an opportunity here too good not to pursue with Urban (Meyer),” the university source said. “If he’s a definite no, we just need to step back and assess.”

Ryan Day has things cooking in Columbus after taking over for Meyer, but there’s also no denying it would certainly sting a bit if Buckeye fans had to watch Meyer lead the Longhorns. It looks like that will not happen as of Sunday.
