Coaches are always suppose to believe their team can win. Regardless of opponent, deficit or circumstance, those guys have a unique quality that doesn’t allow much doubt to seep in.
But Urban Meyer had some doubts about Ohio State’s chances in Happy Valley late in the game. He even admitted that he didn’t expect to leave Beaver Stadium with a win.
The Buckeyes were trailing Penn State 26-14 with eight minutes remaining in the game. In front of a White Out crowd and against the best offense in the country, Meyer admitted he thought the game was over.
But then, Dwayne Haskins connected with Binjimen Victor for a 47-yard touchdown pass that put the Buckeyes within a touchdown. It was a play Meyer says “changed the entire dynamic of the game.”
Urban Meyer said there was a moment in the fourth quarter with Ohio State trailing 26-14 when he looked up, saw white pom poms and thought the game was over. Said Ben Victor changed entire dynamic. May have saved Ohio State’s season.

Ohio State then proceeded to score on an eight-play, 96-yard drive to take a 27-26 lead late in the game. The Buckeyes won by that final.
So even catches have some doubt every now and then. You just don’t expect it from Meyer, who’s been in this situation several times throughout his career.
