Urban Meyer outlines Ohio State’s strategy to beat Michigan, confidence in Ryan Day

Urban Meyer on Thursday night spoke at a roundtable discussion with other former Ohio State coaches, and he also took some time to speak with the media.
One topic raised was how the Buckeyes can snap the 2-game losing streak to Michigan, and get back to the winning ways that Meyer experienced as coach. To beat Michigan, Ohio State must control the line of scrimmage, Meyer said. But perhaps first overall is respecting the rivalry, as Meyer explained he did as coach.
“I’m not going to argue with anybody, I’m not sure there’s anybody who’s respected that rivalry more than I have,” Meyer said. “I studied it, we had a board everywhere of who they recruited. What they were doing offensively and defensively, I had one coach, that’s all he did was watch them year round. Someone said, ‘Well, the team up north wasn’t very good,’ I said, ‘You don’t really understand this rivalry. You don’t understand we played them 3 times I think they were top 5 in the country.’ So they’re always good. When someone says they’re not very good, usually that conversation ends quickly because first of all that doesn’t respect the rivalry.”
Asked about his confidence in Ryan Day to beat Michigan, Meyer said, “There’s no doubt. There’s no one better.”
