Urban Meyer says multiple Ohio State assistants have been contacted for other jobs

Three Ohio State assistant coaches have been contacted by other programs this week regarding open opportunities, according the head coach Urban Meyer.
While the backlash in Knoxville stole the social media spotlight after Tennessee reportedly struck a deal with Buckeyes defensive coordinator Greg Schiano, Meyer said that Schiano wasn’t the only coach to get a phone call about a potential opening. During his weekly radio show, the Ohio State head coach opened up about his staff a little bit.
“We have had two coaches contacted about becoming a head coach and one assistant coach just turned down an opportunity to be a coordinator somewhere,” Meyer said on 97.1 The Fan. “I don’t want to have those conversations now because we expect laser focus.”
Meyer didn’t mention the other coaches and didn’t want to dive into the conversation due to the upcoming B1G Championship Game.
This is always one of the more difficult points in the season for elite programs, which are typically poached by other programs once the regular season concludes. On Tuesday, Penn State offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead was named the new head coach at Mississippi State.
When Ohio State’s season fully concludes, we might get a better idea of which Ohio State coaches were up for those jobs.
