Ohio State didn’t miss a beat without Urban Meyer on the sideline Saturday, and the Buckeyes will get the opportunity to have their head coach back at practice beginning Monday.

Meyer served the first game of his three-game suspension when the Buckeyes opened the season against the Oregon State Beavers. Fortunately for OSU, his absence did not impact the team in the opener. QB Dwayne Haskins, RB Mike Weber, and DE Nick Bosa led the team in a 77-31 rout to begin the season.

Early returns of the team playing under offensive coordinator and acting head coach Ryan Day were quite brilliant. Still, having Meyer back for practices should only help the Buckeyes prepare moving forward.

Stewart Mandel of The Athletic tweeted a report Sunday that Meyer would indeed be returning to practices on Labor Day. However, Mandel added the additional report that Meyer will not partake in Ohio State’s media schedule for the week.

According to Mandel, Day and defensive coordinator Greg Schiano will handle the media duties for the week:

The Buckeyes will begin B1G play Saturday when they take on Rutgers. Kick off is set for 3:30 pm EST on BTN.
