USC added a significant piece to its 2025 recruiting class of Friday afternoon.
The Trojans have landed a commitment from 4-star offensive tackle Alex Payne, who hails from the state of Georgia. Payne was committed to North Carolina prior to announcing his decision to flip to USC.

Payne had been committed to the Tar Heels since January. In addition to UNC, Payne had offers from programs such as Florida State and Kentucky, amongst other top programs.
Payne is a huge addition for USC in this class. He’s the No. 152 overall player and the No. 14 offensive tackle in the country for the 2025 cycle, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 20 player from the state of Georgia.
It’s been a busy week on the recruiting trail for USC with both incomings and outgoings for its 2025 recruiting class. The Trojans seem to be trending toward a good spot when the dust settles, however. USC’s class currently sits at No. 11 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
Payne attends Gainesville High School in Gainesville, Ga. He’s listed at 6-foot-5, 265 pounds.
