Despite the aftermath caused by Hurricane Irma over the weekend, South Florida will host Illinois on Friday night. But USF is adding a little something special to the game.

Head coach Charlie Strong announced that high school football teams and first responders from all across Florida are welcome to attend the game free of charge. He made the statement in a press conference Tuesday.

Strong made the invitation hoping it would give everyone something else to think about for at least one night as efforts to clean up Florida continues following Hurricane Irma.

USF said in a statement that pre-registration was necessary to receive complimentary admission and all requests must be made by noon on Friday.

Kickoff between USF and Illinois is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will air on ESPN.
