Minnesota has a shot at a bit of history with the Outback Bowl showdown against Auburn.

Following a bowl win in 2018, the Gophers really broke through during P.J. Fleck’s third season with the team. The 2019 season included a huge upset of Penn State while rolling to a 10-win campaign. Unfortunately, it also ended with losses to Iowa and Wisconsin down the stretch.

Though Minnesota missed out on the B1G West title, the Gophers have already reached their best win total since 2003. A season-ending win on New Year’s Day would also give Minnesota 11 wins for the first time since a 13-win season in 1904!

Ahead of the Outback Bowl kick, Odds Shark put out a computer prediction for the clash between the Gophers and Tigers. Auburn enters New Year’s Day as a seven-point favorite and is 9-3 against the spread this season. However, the prediction sees Minnesota pulling out a nail-biter in Tampa:

Kickoff is set for 1 pm EST on ESPN.
