Minnesota is looking to record its first bowl win under head coach PJ Fleck, but the Golden Gophers face a unique challenge in the contest.

The Gophers will be taking on Georgia Tech in the Quick Lane Bowl Dec. 26 after finishing 6-6. It marks Minnesota’s first bowl appearance since winning the Holiday Bowl in 2016. What makes the matchup particularly interesting is Georgia Tech’s offense.

The Yellow Jackets bring with them the old-school triple-option offense under head coach Paul Johnson. Utilizing a running quarterback with a limited passing game, Johnson will coach Tech in one final game before retiring.

It is a tough test for Minnesota’s defense to prepare for, and the computer score prediction by OddsShark is not favorable for the Gophers. Georgia Tech is currently favored -5.5 in the game and is predicted to win 33.2-24.6:

Minnesota will be the first B1G team to hit the field in bowl season. Hopefully the Gophers can show up and pull off an upset in Detroit.
