Video: Rodney Smith scores 20-yd TD after Illinois fumbles punt

Illinois and Minnesota were playing dead even for most of the first quarter before a fumble took place when the Fighting Illini’s drive got stopped short.
Directly after the fumble and loss of possession, the Golden Gophers capitalized on the opportunity on the very next play.

The touchdown marks Smith’s ninth rushing touchdown of the season. Minnesota’s first score of the game also came on the ground from Shannon Brooks when he punched it in from nine yards out.
Minnesota currently leads 14-7 as the first quarter is coming to a close. The game is being televised on Big Ten Network.
