Virginia Tech is limiting student attendance due to incident during Notre Dame game

Virginia Tech is going to start to limit its student attendance for home games.
It will go into effect starting this Saturday against Pitt after a video was shared of a lot of students not being able to get to their seats against Notre Dame.
Some students were even climbing the rails as they tried and get to their seats before the game started.

When this video reached Athletic Director Whit Babcock, he released a strong statement calling this “selfish, inappropriate, and embarrassing.” Here’s part of that statement (via Virginia Tech’s official website):
“It troubles us to write this message because of the high regard we hold for our students and the joy, curiosity, and excellence with which you embrace your education every day. Over the last several weeks, we have heard too many stories of selfish, inappropriate, and embarrassing student behavior at home football games. What we have heard falls short of Virginia Tech standards – and most importantly, creates an unsafe environment for all who attend.”
He continued with:
“This week, we are asking that every student attending this Saturday’s home game (and all future games) take personal responsibility for a safe and positive fan experience that reflects the best of our community.”
If this happens again, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the school do away with the general admission seating that they implemented for this season.
Kickoff against Pitt will be at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
