Washington State’s top WR dismissed from program ahead of Holiday Bowl

Washington State will be without its top receiver for the Holiday Bowl matchup against Michigan State.
According to Kyle Bonagura of ESPN, wide receiver Tavares Martin was dismissed from the team due to a “violation of team rules.” There was no further comment from Washington State on the matter.

Martin was the leading receiver for the Cougars, hauling in 70 catches for 831 yards and nine touchdowns this season. He ranked fourth in the Pac-12 in receiving yards per game with 75.5.
A big play threat, Martin eclipsed the 100-yard mark three times in 11 games for Washington State in 2017. His top performance came in Week 3 against Oregon State, catching 10 passes for 194 yards and three touchdowns.
Martin’s dismissal means the Cougars will be without their top two receivers against Michigan State, as Isaiah Johnson-Mack announced he was transferring at the conclusion of the regular season. He accounted for 555 yards and five touchdowns.
Washington State and Michigan State square off in Holiday Bowl in San Diego on Thursday, Dec. 28.
