Purdue came up with the stop on third down. Northwestern was going to punt the ball away and the Boilermakers were going to get the chance to start the year 1-0.
And then a veteran defensive lineman made a really dumb move.
With just over two minutes left, Purdue came up with a third down stop, forcing the Wildcats to punt the ball away. But Lorenzo Neal threw a Northwestern running back to the ground, ending the game.

Purdue couldn’t stop the clock and Northwestern was able to run a few plays and escape with a Week 1 win, 31-27.
