Ohio State will be without head coach Urban Meyer for the first three games of the season, but it sounds like the Buckeyes are well prepared to deal with his absence.

Meyer was suspended following an investigation into what he knew in regards to domestic violence allegations against former assistant Zach Smith. As a result, Meyer will not be on the sideline when the Buckeyes begin the season against Oregon State on Sept. 1.

In a recent segment with FOX College Football, FOX Sports reporter Bruce Feldman was asked how the Buckeyes are dealing with the absence of their head coach. Feldman took time to point out that Meyer can be with the team for practices after the first game:

“Urban Meyer, after that first game, can actually run practice Monday through Friday, he just can’t be in the building on game days,” Feldman explained.

Missing game days could certainly prove costly to the Buckeyes, but having Meyer around during preparation is definitely important. As it is, Feldman shared that acting head coach Ryan Day is a detailed coach who has impressed others on Ohio State’s staff:

“He’s a very organized guy, he’s very even-keeled,” said Feldman. “From talking to people in the program, they’ve been impressed with how he’s handled it.”

Feldman went on to say that the Buckeyes have a very experienced staff surrounding Day which is a strong plus. Obviously Meyer’s suspension could hurt Ohio State, but the team looks well-equipped to weather the storm.
