The first touchdown of the College Football Playoff has been scored, and it came in impressive fashion.

In the second quarter of the Cotton Bowl, Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence connected with Justyn Ross for a 52-yard touchdown against Notre Dame. It was the first touchdown of the College Football Playoff.

The score also gave Clemson a 9-3 lead in the game.

That pass was the 25th touchdown pass for Lawrence on the season. It was the seventh touchdown reception for Ross.

Clemson was a two-touchdown favorite against Notre Dame in the Cotton Bowl.
