Watch: Denzel Ward gets called for targeting on a questionable hit

Ohio State cornerback Denzel Ward only 5-foot-10. But this hit he made on Maryland’s receiver made him look like Lawrence Taylor:

While Ward’s hit made me think, ‘Oh My God!’, he was called for targeting on it.

The FOX announcers did not agree with the call and I agree with them. He wasn’t leading with the crown of the helmet and hit the receiver in the chest. However, referees saw something that made them think it was targeting.
Ward will be out for the remainder of the game due to the penalty.
