This does not look good for Trevor Siemian.

The former Northwestern signal-caller has been a journeyman in the NFL, but he received the starting nod for the New York Jets in Week 2. Starter Sam Darnold has been sidelined with an illness so it was Siemian getting the start on Monday Night Football.

Unfortunately, Siemian was knocked out of the game after taking what appeared to be a serious injury to his ankle. A Cleveland Browns defender hit and fell on Siemian while applying pressure on a play with Siemian landing awkwardly on his left leg.

Siemian’s leg was caught underneath him, and his ankle can be seen getting wrenched at an odd angle as the weight of the defender falls on it. It doesn’t look good as Siemian was removed and hasn’t returned to action.

Remarkably, Siemian was able to walk off the field and to the locker room with a little help after this play:

Hopefully, the injury isn’t as serious as it appeared.
