Former Michigan quarterback Shane Morris had the biggest moment of his football career on Wednesday night.
Morris, now at Central Michigan, was under center for the Chippewas in Wednesday’s MAC showdown with Western Michigan. With the score tied at 28-28 and less than three minutes remaining, Morris trotted onto the field with the offense to put together a game-winning drive. And it didn’t take very long.
On the first play, Morris fired a deep pass to Corey Willis who then sprinted to the end zone 77 yards for the go-ahead score. Central Michigan held on to defeat Western Michigan 35-28.

In addition to the game-winning touchdown, Morris was 12-of-30 for 243 yards and two touchdowns through the air. He also rushed for 27 yards and a pair of scores in the win.
Morris’ career never really got off the ground at Michigan and had trouble competing for playing time. At the end of the 2016 campaign, he decided to leave Ann Arbor for Mt. Pleasant, where he’s thrived in a starting role.
He ended his career as a Wolverine with 434 passing yards with a 51.1 percent completion rate. He threw five interceptions but never accounted for a single touchdown in three seasons.
This season with Central Michigan, Morris has 2,209 yards while completing passes at a 55.2 percent clip. He’s thrown 18 touchdown passes with 11 interceptions. Morris also has 136 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.
Central Michigan is now 5-4 on the season.
