Penn State is coming off a strong 11-2 season, but FOX Sports analyst Joel Klatt isn’t sure if it will be an indication of how the Nittany Lions fare in 2018.
In the video series revealing his top 25 preseason rankings, Klatt offers a thorough explanation of why he has James Franklin’s squad at No. 13. Klatt looks at what the Nittany Lions have lost on the sidelines and on the field after last season.
But despite all the notable losses, Klatt points to Franklin’s strong recruiting and the 2018 schedule as reasons why Penn State will be a top-15 squad this fall.
“What helps Penn State is that they have the most favorable schedule of any of the East contenders,” Klatt says in the video.
Part of that “favorable” schedule is having the Happy Valley crowd behind the Nittany Lions for games against Ohio State, Michigan State, Iowa and Wisconsin. Klatt notes that QB Trace McSorley is 14-0 at home.
