That is not how Purdue wanted to end this season.
The Boilermakers earned a bid to the Music City Bowl against Auburn after finishing the regular season 6-6. Unfortunately, a bowl victory and winning record were not meant to be Friday.
The Tigers jumped out to a 28-7 lead through one quarter and scored 56 points before halftime behind a dominant performance from QB Jarrett Stidham. Purdue never had an answer for Auburn with Rondale Moore providing the lone bright spot with 11 catches for 94 yards.
It may not have been the result the Boilermakers were hoping for, but head coach Jeff Brohm took time to praise the fans in his locker room speech to the team:
“You guys have brought the fans back into the fold,” said Brohm. “Make sure you thank the fans for everything they did. That was a tremendous turnout, and they supported us to the very end. That doesn’t happen all the time when you get your tails kicked.”
