It’s not too often that Kirk Herbstreit gets really fired up on the set of College GameDay, but the ESPN analyst was fuming on Saturday.

Recently, Herbstreit got into a Twitter spat with a few potential Ohio State recruits who called out Urban Meyer, saying that J.T. Barrett needed to be benched after Saturday’s loss to Oklahoma. GameDay host Rece Davis brought that situation up while the crew was in Louisville.

Herbstreit didn’t hold back on his comments.

“Drop his ass,” Herbstreit said on Saturday, talking about the recruit who was critiquing Meyer publicly. “Five star recruits, some of them, think they’re more important than they really are. They’re very replaceable. They’re a dime a dozen.”

Ohio State fans probably cringed at that comment. And Herbstreit might face more backlash on social media if his continued harping on this subject somehow disinterests five-star recruits from coming to Columbus.
