Illinois is ready to get back on the field and rinse the sour taste of a 47-23 loss to USF out of its mouth.
The Illini are coming out of a bye week and open B1G play on Friday night in Champaign against Nebraska. Before this weekend’s game, head coach Lovie Smith talked with Big Ten Network about the mistakes from two weeks and the upcoming matchup with the Huskers.

“We’re anxious to play this game,” Smith said in the interview “You need to get into a position like this to see how your team will respond. I think we’ll respond the right way.”
Nebraska won last year’s game 31-16, though the Illini had a six-point lead headed into the fourth quarter. The Huskers then rattled off 21-straight points in the final 15 minutes.
The last time the two teams met in Champaign, Illinois came out on top with a 14-13 win.
Friday’s game is scheduled to kickoff at 8 p.m. ET and will air on FS1.
