WATCH: Marco Battaglia calls it a ‘humbling honor’ to have new complex named after him

Marco Battaglia has known for over a year that the new Practice Complex for Rutgers football would bestow his name. That’s what boosters Jeff and Amy Towers, who donated a majority of the money for the new facility, wanted.
Still, the former Scarlet Knight considers it a huge honor to have his name permanently associated with Rutgers football.
In an interview with Big Ten Network after the complex officially opened, Battaglia called it a “humbling honor” to have his name attached to the new facility.
“It goes to show that hard work back in the 90s wasn’t going unnoticed,” Battaglia said.

The Towers family wanted to name the facility after Battaglia because he was a great player during a dark period of Rutgers football.
Battaglia was a member of Rutgers’ program from 1992-1995, appearing in 44 games. He had 171 receptions for 2,221 yards and 16 touchdowns in his career. He went on to have an eight-year NFL career.
Battaglia now works at Rutgers University.
