Michigan State’s defense and special teams has picked up right where it left off last season.

Early in the season opener against Tulsa, the Spartans have stymied the Golden Hurricanes, forcing them to punt on each of their first three possessions. On the third punt for Tulsa, Michigan State’s Dominique Long made quite a play.

The Spartan was able to get to the Tulsa punter, basically at the same time the ball hit the toe. The big play in the first half gave MSU great field position, setting up a scoring drive.

Michigan State wasn’t able to punch the ball across the goal line again, but was able to knock home a field goal, giving it a 10-0 advantage over Tulsa in the first half.

That play will be on the highlight reel by the end of the weekend, that’s for sure.
