The is tradition is quite unique at Ohio State.
Surely certain schools have some sort of welcoming for freshmen to the team. But Ohio State’s black stripe removal is well-known. It’s when a freshman gets onto campus and eventually proves themselves that they belong as a part of the program.
For some, they get black stripes removed before any games take place. For others, it takes a few weeks.
On Tuesday, two freshmen got their black stripes removed: OL Nicholas Petit-Frere and OL Jack Jamieson.

Jamieson was a preferred walk-on, while Petit-Frere was ranked by 247Sports as a 5-star recruit.
