Ryan Shazier’s recovery from a serious injury he suffered in a game near the end of last season has been gradual. And yet, at the same time, he’s come such a long way over the past 12 months.

It started with taking just a few steps. Then Shazier was able to walk across the width of a football field. He’s joined in on huddles with the Pittsburgh Steelers before games. And now, he’s crushing a deadlift workout.

Thursday, video made its way to Twitter, showing Shazier doing a deadlift workout, an incredible sign considering all the steps he’s had to take to make it this far.

How awesome is that?

Shazier’s recovery has been an inspiring one. This is another significant chapter for the linebacker.

Shazier was injured in the Steelers’ matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals last December. He sustained a serious spinal injury.
