The Nebraska women’s basketball team is utilizing the summer as a chance to improve as a team, as well as grow closer together. There isn’t a much better way to do that than by taking a trip overseas.
The Huskers arrived in Europe recently, where they’ll take part in trips to Italy and Spain. They’ll also be competing on the hardwood, with their first game being played yesterday (Aug. 3).
While Nebraska is looking forward to touring the two countries and getting in a few games against international competition, one of the highlights of the trip was a visit to St. Peter’s Square to see the Pope.
And while they were in attendance, Pop Francis welcomed the team to Italy. It had to be a surreal moment for the student-athletes:
When the Pope officially welcomes you to Italy! 😳🤯

That’s an unforgettable moment for the team.
Nebraska will be on its European Tour through August 11. They will compete in three games, along with touring the two countries.
