The Purdue defense was lackluster last season. In fact, it was the No. 91 total defense last year.
Obviously, the Boilermakers made significant changes this offseason to their coaching staff. One of the major changes was bringing in Nick Holt as co-defensive coordinator. Before Purdue, Holt was defensive coordinator from 2013 to 2016.
On Wednesday, Holt met with the media and he listed the three things he wants his Boilermaker defense to do: No. 3 stop the run, No. 2 create turnovers and No. 1 eliminate the big plays.

Holt also went onto say he has not watched film of Purdue’s defense last year. He just wants the team to move on. Holt also touched on the linebacker position, the secondary and wanting to take the fight to the offensive line.
