Purdue came up just short in a comeback effort against Rutgers on Saturday, falling 14-12 in Piscataway. But the Boilers didn’t go away without some fireworks first.
With time winding down in the fourth quarter and trailing 14-6, Purdue desperately needed a touchdown to stay in the game in the final moments. That’s when quarterback David Blough fired a pass to the back corner of the end zone for receiver Anthony Mahoungou.
That’s when Mahoungou made one of the top catches of the afternoon:

Purdue came up short on the two-point conversion attempt, but that shouldn’t diminish the impressiveness of Mahoungou’s catch.
Mahoungou finished the afternoon as the leading receiver for the Boilermakers, catching four passes for 47 yards and a touchdown. Blough was 8-of-15 for 57 yards and a score.
The loss dropped Purdue to 3-4 on the season while Rutgers improved to 3-4 on the year.
