If it was the NFL, this probably wouldn’t have been a catch. Fortunately for Purdue, the Foster Farms Bowl is only played in a professional stadium and doesn’t have to deal with NFL officials.
Late in the first quarter and trailing 14-7, Purdue quarterback Elijah Sindelar fired a pass deep down field to receiver Gregory Phillips, who made a spectacular catch and was able to creep into the end zone to tie Arizona at 14-14.
Upon a closer look, Phillips actually lost control of the ball as he fell into the end zone, but he didn’t lose possession until after hitting the and crossing the goal line. Though it went under review, the play stood and Phillips accounted for his first touchdown grab of the year.
It was the second touchdown pass of the game for Sindelar.

It was pretty close, but that looks like the right call.
That was a big play for Phillips, who hadn’t caught a single touchdown pass all season. He entered the bowl game with 275 yards on 30 receptions this year.
