This is not the start of the season Purdue was hoping for.

The Boilermakers have struggled out of the gate in 2018 with back-to-back losses to Northwestern and Eastern Michigan. The loss to Northwestern is more understandable, but the last-second defeat at the hands of EMU really stings.

Purdue managed just 19 points in the contest and was held in check for much of the afternoon. It even appeared that the Boilermakers were about to get the ball back late in the fourth quarter, but Eastern Michigan converted a 4th-and-15 to keep the drive alive.

In the end, EMU kicked a short field goal as time expired to earn the 20-19 victory. It is a rough loss for Purdue, and seeing the last-second field goal set to Titanic music somehow makes the loss feel even worse.
