WATCH: Recruit trolls Illinois with fake out in commitment video

College football recruits are increasingly turning to commitment videos to announce their pledges. One Illinois target decided to have some fun at the Illini’s expense.

Multiple recruiting experts expected 3-star St. Louis WR Maurice Massey to commit to Illinois in his planned Friday announcement. In the video, it appears he is indeed about to commit to Illinois, appearing in a hoodie with the team logo, but when the actual announcement, Massey states he is committing to Missouri and sports a Mizzou hoodie.

Unfortunately, Missouri isn’t on the Illinois schedule again until 2026 when Massey will be long gone. Maybe Illinois can get some revenge in postseason at some point
