Lovie Smith’s first season as the Illinois head coach was a rough one.
The Fighting Illini only won three games last year. Due to the make up of this year’s roster (they are young), but there should be improvement in Champaign.
Ryan Easterling of Scout’s Illini Iquirer joined the Big Ten Network on Wednesday to preview Illinois’ upcoming season.

Easterling expects the offense to be run heavy this year for the Illini. He also expects Illinois to finish with about four wins this season.
The Illini kickoff their season on Saturday, Sept. 2, against Ball State at noon ET on the Big Ten Network.
