An ugly losing streak has ended thanks to a beautiful throw.
Minnesota entered Friday night’s game against Indiana having dropped its previous four games, and the last six B1G games dating back to the 2017 season. Early, it looked like the Gophers would cruise to an easy victory, building a 31-9 lead in the second half.
But the Hoosiers worked their way back into the game, tying the score at 31-31. With less than two minutes left, a rattled Gophers offense returned to the field. That’s when Tanner Morgan delivered an absolute bomb to Rashod Bateman, converting on a 67-yard play to propel Minnesota to a 38-31 win.
It was the first B1G victory of the season for the Gophers.

Morgan finished the game completing 17-of-24 passes for 302 yards and three touchdowns. It was his first career start at the college level.
Bateman ended the day with 108 yards on four receptions and a touchdown.
The Gophers are now 4-4 on the season and 1-4 in the B1G.
