Baseball season is over so Tim Tebow has a little more free time on his hands.

Returning to the camera on Friday morning was the former Heisman winner, who joined First Take to dive into the mess that is the University of Maryland and its poor handling of the reinstatement/firing of head football coach D.J. Durkin.

He had some pretty strong thoughts on the matter:

Instead of cutting ties with the controversial coach and resolving the tough issues facing the program, the decision by the University System of Maryland board of regents to retain Durkin created a different set of problems in the wake of player Jordan McNair’s death along with the toxic climate created under Durkin and his staff.

He was fired Wednesday night just over 24 hours after being reinstated — both decisions causing plenty of public backlash.

Durkin was the head coach at Maryland for two seasons, compiling a 10-15 record but did not coach a game for the Terps in 2018. Prior to taking over in College Park, Durkin was the defensive coordinator on Jim Harbaugh’s staff at Michigan in 2015 and was also an assistant on Urban Meyer’s staff at Florida in 2010.
